The law firm of Allston & Associates opened its doors on February 2, 2004. But the journey to get here started in December 26, 1989.
It was back in 1989 that I worked my first day for a law firm, handling tasks in the mailroom at Koonz, McKenney, Johnson, DePaolis & Lightfoot in downtown Washington, DC while on Winter Break.
I knew fairly quickly that representing injured persons was what I wanted to do, and I set out to make it my career.
I continued to work at Koonz, McKenney through college, and then through law school. In January of 1997, I joined the Maryland office in Greenbelt. In 2001, I was named partner, one of the youngest in the firm's 25 year history.
Unfortunately, at the end of 2002, it was decided that Koonz, McKenney would close our Maryland office and that I would handle my Maryland practice from the District of Columbia office on 2020 K Street in Washington, DC.
After a year, I came to the realization that I just was not happy practicing in the District, and I know many of you weren't happy about my relocation as well. Many of you told me that you did not like the traffic, the parking, and the noise.
The time had come for me to leave.
I am now located at 7845 Belle Point Drive, Greenbelt, MD 20770, in a brand new professional townhouse development. The building still smells new. The next time you are driving on the Beltway and see the huge American flag at Capitol Cadillac, look at the other side of the road and you will see where I am.
I am sure that many of you will be happy to hear that my secretary of seven (7) years, Deanna, has joined me here. My practice will remain exactly the same. I will continue to do personal injury, automobile accidents, workers' compensation, products liability and medical malpractice. If you are injured, I will do what I can to help.
I am also happy to say that I will be practicing with my wife, Monica. Monica spent 5 years practicing law on behalf of insurance companies. She brings invaluable insight into what injured folks must do in order to prevail.
Referrals have always been the lifeblood of my practice, and I am always grateful when a client of mine feels confident enough to give my name to friends, family members, or co-workers.
I especially wanted to thank all of you for your support over the years. I have been privileged to represent some of the finest people I have ever met, and I would never have this opportunity to start this new adventure except for the faith and trust that you have placed in me.
